Evening comes to Charles Bridge
The Ha'penny Bridge was an old toll bridge over the River Kelvin. The toll was one half-penny, hence the name. The original bridge was washed away in the flood of 1996 and replaced. The Ha'penny Bridge House stands next to it and is the headquarters of the Friends of the River Kelvin - a group who devote part of their time to keeping the river free from litter, looking after the flora and fauna etc.
